SEMTEC grounding checklist for multi-channel setups

A practical checklist for reviewing grounding, cable routing, and interface placement before starting acquisition.

Rui ChenResearch engineer2026-04-09312

We have been collecting a short pre-recording checklist for 16-channel interface setups and wanted to share a version that other groups can adapt.

The main goal is not to prescribe one hardware layout, but to make troubleshooting faster when a lab is comparing different acquisition arrangements.

If others have a similar review sheet, it would be useful to compare what gets checked before the first recording session.

We do something similar and would add a short note about connector strain relief. That has saved us time during repeated sleep recordings.

This is exactly the kind of workflow-oriented post we hope to collect here. We can turn repeated patterns into future documentation once the board matures.
